Relations
Who is allied with who, as a matrix, shared with the games.
Reading it
app.titanite.family/genesius/<group> shows the group's factions down one axis
and across the other, with each cell saying how that pair stands: ally,
enemy, neutral, or unknown.
Anyone can read it, signed in or not.
Unknown is a real answer. It means neither side has declared anything, which is different from neutral, where at least one of them has. A matrix that showed undeclared pairs as neutral would be inventing diplomacy nobody agreed to.
Editing it
Holding manage_relations on the group turns the cells into buttons. Click one
to open the editor and set your side's stance. You can also add and remove
factions.
Editors see one thing readers do not: each side's own declared stance, alongside the resolved answer in the cell. So before changing anything you can see whether the other side has already said something, and what.
How a cell resolves
Each faction declares its own stance towards the other, so a pair carries two declarations that need not agree. The cell shows the resolved result of both.
Two sides that disagree is a real state of affairs, not a fault in the data. The editor shows you both rather than hiding one behind whichever was written last.
Where the data lives
In its own service, which the CMS passes through. The same matrix can be read by a game, which is the point of keeping it in one place rather than in a pinned message somebody edits by hand.
When you are stuck
The matrix is empty
No factions have been added for that group yet. Somebody with manage_relations adds them.
Cells will not click
You do not hold manage_relations on that group. Reading is open to everyone; changing is not.
A pair reads unknown and I know we have a treaty
Neither side has declared it here. A treaty agreed in Discord is not a declaration on the matrix until somebody sets it.
I set us to ally and the cell does not say ally
The other side has declared something different. That is the resolved answer doing its job. Open the cell as an editor to see both stances.
The page will not load at all
The relations service is not answering. The matrix is not stored on TITANNET, so nothing here can render it from a cache.
