Groups
Every group on the network has a page, and what you see on it depends on whether you are in it.
Three audiences, not two
Logged out. You get the group's home: who they are, what is public, and a prompt to log in. The home page is the network's calling card, so it works without an account.
Signed in but not a member. The same home, plus a prompt to join. You are previewing.
A member. The whole page: announcements, events, documents, divisions, leadership and the launcher.
The one exception is Ranks, which anyone can see whether they are in the group or not. Roblox already serves that same list to anyone, so gating it here would hide nothing and annoy everyone.
What is on a group page
| Channel | What it holds |
|---|---|
| Home | Identity, banner, what the group does |
| Announcements | What the group has said |
| Events | What is coming up, fed from the calendar |
| Docs | The group's own written material |
| Divisions | The groups beneath it, if it has any |
| Leadership | Who runs it, read live from Roblox |
| Ranks | The full ladder |
| Launcher | Straight into the group's games |
Leadership is read live
The group says which of its ranks count as leadership, and everyone currently holding one appears, with a face and a link.
Nobody maintains that list by hand, so it cannot go stale. Somebody promoted into a leadership rank this morning is on the page this morning, and somebody who left is gone.
Rosters
A roster is the membership of a rank, read from Roblox on demand rather than stored.
Roblox lets a group hide its member list, and where a group has done that the page says the names are hidden rather than showing an empty list. The rank counts still work, so "32 people in this rank, names hidden" is an answer the page can give.
Unlisted groups
A group can be kept out of the directory, the counts and every picker. It still exists, and its page still works if you have the link.
Hiding a group is reversible. Deleting one is not, and it takes everything attached to it.
It's not working
A group is missing from the directory. It is probably unlisted. That is deliberate, not a fault.
Leadership shows nobody. Either the group has not marked any of its ranks as leadership ranks, or Roblox would not answer. The page says which.
A roster is empty for a rank you know has people in it. The group has hidden its member list on Roblox. The rank count still shows.
You are in the group but the page treats you as a guest. Your rank is read live from Roblox rather than from anything stored, so it follows your actual membership. If you just joined, give it a moment and reload.
A game is missing from the launcher. Games are attached to a group in the admin console. Somebody needs to add it.
